Week Commencing 25th of November

Monday 25th of November Today I mainly focused on working on my production role of set design, however first we once again practiced the pleasure island scene through the 3 different casts, although this doesn't affect me as I remain the same Roustabout each cast.  After this I helped the other set designers move out the boxes we used for Shout out of the college garage, into the BlackBox room, where we began to paint them plain white, so we could repaint them brown for in Geppetto's Toy Shop.  We also began to brainstorm ideas for Pleasure Island, coming up with the idea of having a large banner at the back of the stage labelled PLEASURE ISLAND. Tuesday 26th of November Today we finally filmed the Dear Evan Hansen scene with Layla, but beforehand we did a few warm ups to get ready for it as this is really important since it goes on our film reel.  Once we had gotten warmed up, we were allowed to go away in our pairs to rehearse the scene and make some last minute ...

Week Commencing 18th of November

Monday 18th of November This morning we were given the chance to practice scenes and parts of the show we were struggling with, however I was quite confident with the scenes I was in and had gone through so instead I helped Jack who is one of the ringleaders as this afternoon we were going to be doing Pleasure Island and Jack wanted help learning the song so he was ready for this afternoon.  Moving onto the afternoon, we began working on Pleasure Island, which is basically a massive fairground ruled by naughty kids, who are eventually turned into donkeys.  To encapsulate this, we got into small groups where we tried to make rollercoasters by only using our movement, with my group deciding to try and make a boat ride that swings back and forth and other groups doing rides like teacups and droppers. Tuesday 19th of November Today was meant to be the day mine and Layla's duologue got recorded, however the film crew ran out of time, meaning ours got pushed back to next Tues...

Week Commencing 11th of November

Monday 11th of November We have just recently been given the cast list for Pinocchio and I got the roles of Junior, a Town Father and Parent.  I am most looking forward to be the role of Junior as he is quite an interesting character, a perfect clone of the mad inventor Bungrazzo, which would also be a challenge as I have to perfectly mimic Bungrazzo's mannerisms.  This morning we got into 3 groups, with each group having a Geppetto and Pinnochio, and we each group did their take on how the school fight scene should go, with some groups having the children be well behaved before the fight begins and others having the children already be naughty.  Aswell as this, today I also chose my production role, Set design. Tuesday 12th of November This morning with our free time, I decided to start working on my production role by drafting up ideas for the set of Geppetto's toy shop, such as having a model train moving around on a small track around the stage.  After thi...

Audition Week

Monday 4th of November Today was the day before auditions, so to help us settle on a character we are certain we'd want to go for, Kelly gave us short summaries of each character.  Out of all the characters, I was most interested in the fairy Sue, as I believe they would be the most challenging role for me.  I began to learn the extract which was the blue fairies short monologue at the start of the show, as the fairies in training didn't have any major speeches.  Aswell as this I quickly learnt When You Wish Upon A Star as we had rehearsed it quite often so I knew most of it.   Tuesday 5th of November / Audition day! Auditions were today and my slot was at 12.30.  This gave me time to prepare for my audition aswell as make a few changes to it to make my character stand out.  While doing this, I also helped my friends who were stressing about their auditions.  For my audition, I played Sue as someone who was given a script by the Blue Fairy ...

Globe Show Week and Evaluation

Monday 21st of October Today was our first day at The Globe, one day before our first show.  To begin with, we warmed up by playing a few games like Splat so we were energised.  Since the first Tuesday show was the other cast, I was going to be an Aide in the One Flew Over segment of the tour, as the more people occupying the area in that scene, the more realistic it would be.  However, because my show is on the Wednesday, I still need to keep on top of my lines for The Sceptic so this morning Me, Connor and Adam focused on running through our lines together so we knew we had them fully learnt, since now we were in the venue some parts of the tour had been swapped around.  After lunch, me and the other people in the OFO section went through what we would be doing during Nurse Ratchet's section, like all turning to look at the audience at the same time during parts of her speech.   Tuesday 22nd of October This was the day of the first show so we immed...
