Week Commencing 11th of March

Monday 11th of March Today we got through the first three quarters of Shout whilst making adjustments to certain scenes.  One of the scenes we changed was the scene where Dana begins singing with Tristan after Viv is convincing people to go on a Climate rally with him.  We changed the scene so Tristan and Dana are sat at the front of the stage, while a few students are gathered round Viv, discussing the environment, holding large signs to get more attention.  When the song began playing we begin marching in a circle while raising our signs up and down.  Once we went through Shout, we began blocking the first two scenes of Hunt, the first scene being Eugene's introduction and the second scene having all the friends meet up at the electrical box. Tuesday 12th of March Today we had a lesson with Tom where people presented their practitioner PowerPoint's that they had been working on.  Each group had 15 minutes to teach us about a practitioner they had resear...

Week Commencing 4th of March

Monday 4th of March Today we reworked the beginning of Shout as we didn't think it was captivating enough for the audience.  Instead, we made everyone around Dana slow motion, with everyone already starting the performance on stage, so Dana sticks out more whilst everyone is moving much slower. Once we went through the beginning a couple of times, we ran through the last 2 Freaks and Geeks scenes, where they do yoga together.  Me and Will came up with a few gags to happen in the background of the room whilst the main dialogue was being spoken.  After this began the auditions for Hunt where I auditioned as Fra with Will as Eugene, using the scene where Fra gets annoyed at Eugene and throws himself at him. Tuesday 5th of March Today we had Tom as our teacher where he explained about the world of casting and how the business worked.  He showed us an app called Spotlight that helped get your name out there for directors looking for actors.  As well as this he...

Week commencing 26th of February

Monday 26th of February Today we started with a few warm ups of Splat and What are you doing so we could calm down and loose some energy.  After these warm ups, we got into our friend groups in our connections piece Shout.  We discussed in our groups how we met each other and how we got the names of Freaks and Geeks.  We then made a short scene of how they all met each other over time by going in to the calming room after feeling stressed or getting bullied and once they were all there, they collectively agreed to call themselves the Freaks and Geeks.  Before the end of the day, we went to The Green Screen room to do a read through of Hunt. Tuesday 27th of February Today we started with a new version of the game Wink Murder, similar to how it normally works, however, everyone is walking around with an unknown killer amongst them who when they wink at you, you must die.  If you suspect someone, you go up to the sheriff and ask if your suspicion is correct....

Week Commencing 12th of February

Monday 12th of February Today we were in the theatre with Kelly and began the lesson by doing games such as Wah and Splat to help with our concentration for the day.  After the games we then focussed on Shout for the day, where we practiced the therapist snake scene.  In this scene we had the Freaks and Geeks come into the room wearing snake sock puppets to assist the therapist in trying to help Dana speak, however we were still brainstorming on how they would interact with Dana during the scene.  Because of this, we continued working on the guidance councillor scene whilst we brainstormed ideas for the therapist scene.  For this scene, whilst Dana was being spoken to, we had the ensemble walk behind them, and talk to each other about different universities (silently of course). Tuesday 13th of February Today we had a lesson with Tom like we normally do, and kept working on our practitioner PowerPoints.  Me and my partners went down to the LRC to do some ...

Week Commencing 5th of February

Monday 5th of February Today we once again went through the beginning of Shout and worked our way to the careers advisor scene to go through book passing again. After this Abbie played three different songs for us to listen and dance to so we could feel the different rhythms of each song and let loose, truly feeling comfortable with everyone in the class.  As well as this we played the imaginary tug of war again for half an hour as it helped us with our reactions as we had to move forward and back in response to the opposing teams actions. Tuesday and Wednesday 6th and 7th of February For these days we only did rehearsals for Alan's play Snowdrop and focused on just the ensembles scenes.  The first scene was set at a train station and I was in a family that would get split up going on the train.  We then got on the train where we would gently sway from side to side to show the movement of the train.  After we get off the train, we wait in the line for soup and then g...
