Week Commencing 22nd of January
Monday 22nd of January
Today we did played some games whilst Kelly and Abby did callbacks for Shout. One of the games we played helped us work on our teamwork skills and working quickly under pressure as in teams of two you have to get in different positions. In the game, everyone walks in random directions away from there partner, until the game runner yells either; Backpack, Row your boat, Chicken hut or Cradle. Then everyone would try to find their partner and get in the position with them, the slowest team getting removed. After this, we got into groups of 5 and made a scene that was titled "When everything changed". This title was chosen as it was very broad so anything could happen.
Tuesday 23rd of January
Today we had Tom for the lesson where we once again spoke about the two practitioners we had learnt about in the two previous lessons. We got into groups of three to research practitioners of our own so we can do our own presentation of them during a lesson. I got into a group Oliver and Emily and we decided to choose Jerzy Grotowski and began working on our presentation.
Wednesday 24th of January
Today we began the lesson with a few games of Mafia Boss, which helped us focus and improve our reaction skills, as we had to actually die when we were killed, not just sit down. After this we did some vocal warm ups as we were going to play a game that used our voices which linked to connections. This game was called Word, where someone stands in the middle of the circle and tries to get someone to pass the word to them, whilst everyone just passes word around the circle, avoiding eye contact with the person in the middle. This linked to connections as the main character Dana wants to speak, however no one notices her. After this, we once again put on our headphones and closed our eyes, listening to our favourite songs so we can let loose and not care what anyone thinks of us.
Thursday 25th of January
During this lesson we talked about subtext and how it is important to act as if your just learning certain information, as if you have read the script you know what's going to happen but your character doesn't. To learn more about how it could affect scenes, we made a wedding scene, however, only one person knew that the groom cheated on the bride so when they told everyone, the bride still had to act shocked, even though she was told before the scene began. We then got back into our pairs where we practiced the scenes we would be filming, as we also brought in a prop to make the scene better. I do my scene with Oliver, which is about a business man going to a strange restaurant.
