My Fourth Week at SRC

 Monday 2nd of October

Today we did a trust exercise where we had to lean on our partner and walk with them whilst trying not to fall over.  We did this to build trust between each other as we had to work together to stay upright.  After this we played hug tag as we had to work together to avoid getting tug.  This helped us feel comfortable around everyone as you just hugged anyone to stay in the game.  Once we finished, we started working on our diction by learning tongue twisters by getting into groups and reading out ours for everyone else to try which was "I need a box of biscuits, a box of mixed biscuits, and a biscuit mixer." We did this so when we are doing shows our words are clear for the audience to understand.

Today in college we were taught how to do fake combat on stage for fight scenes and how to safely perform it without hurting one another.  First we got into partners and learnt how to throw punches, uppercuts, hair pulling and foot stomping and once we learnt how to properly perform them we created a fight scene with a partner.  After we created it and showed it to everyone, we all worked together with Tom to create a fight scene between the lost boys and the pirates, having it end with a fight between Captain Hook and Peter Pan.

Wednesday 4th of October

Today we did an improvisation where Kelly gave us a line that our scene had to start with to hook the audience.  Our scene had to start with a character running onto the stage shouting "Oh no. What have I done, what have I done!" with a knife in their hands.  We decided to subvert the idea of the person running on being a murderer as we thought it would be the most obvious choice, and instead went with the idea of the main character being the ghost of a child who just killed themselves.  Our scene showed the family finding the body of the main character and their reaction to finding it.

Thursday 5th of October

Today we did our auditions for The Globe.  I auditioned with a group as I wanted to be one of Guy Fawkes friends because I didn't want a large part but still wanted a speaking role.  We performed our audition better than we had ever performed the piece and without any issue.  Our scene for the primary school tour was set before Guy Fawkes and his gang tried to blow up Parliament and showed Guy trying to convince his friends to go along with his plan.  Our scene for the adult tour was made to be more scary so we set the scene to be after he was caught and tortured, where his friends are talking about him and how his plan failed.  We then had a bloodied Guy Fawkes run at the audience and be held back by one of his members.
