Unit 12: Week Commencing 7th of April

Monday 7th of April

Today was my first toured performance of DNA, which began with me going to college to get my makeup for Adam done by Neve, as it would be impossible for her to do it for me at the school.  Once I was in costume and got my makeup done, we got to the school where luckily we were able to take all the set, however, there was an issue, as the stage had no lighting and only one door backstage left, so we all had to enter and exit the same way.  Even with this change, the show still went smoothly, although during my monologue I did trip up, forgetting my next line for a few seconds, before luckily remembering it and thankfully staying character and not giving it away with my face that I had forgotten.  


Tuesday 8th of April

Today we filmed more of Hayley's film for Fringe, with the whole cast going out to film scenes.  These scenes were quite difficult to film as we were using Hayley's dog, so keeping the continuity between shots was hard as we had to make sure the dog was always in the same place.  


Wednesday 9th of April

This morning was spent filming for an end of year film, called 'Missing Time' where I am playing James, the main characters best friend.  We filmed the scene where James confronts Ryan about being late to work, before Ryan blacks out.  Due to it being set in an office, I wore a suit and tie, unlike Ryan who was only wearing a sweater.  After this, we watched the cast of Normalised do a run through of the show, as they would be performing it in Newcastle tomorrow.  Once again the show was phenomenal, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, seeing the characters develop over the course of the story.  Then, it happened.  The cast list was announced.  As I tentatively opened teams to see what role I got, I was overjoyed to see I had been cast as Mr Harvey, the role I had auditioned for!

Week commencing 14th of October

  Monday 14th of October This morning we played a new game called G'day Shiela, which was a memory game which made us remember who we were close to.  We played this game to improve our skills at remembering multiple things at once, as we had to speak in an accent, and the names of the two people to our right.  The rest of the day we put our full attention on Ghostlight Tours, with me, Connor and Adam going off to rehearse in the Black Box room ourselves, where we focussed completely on the first scene as it helped us get into character and it was the hardest part to learn, due to the rest of our dialogue mostly being short speeches before each section.  For now I just need to focus on getting of script for the first few pages as the show is actually quite close. Globe Show Week and Evaluation

  Monday 21st of October Today was our first day at The Globe, one day before our first show.  To begin with, we warmed up by playing a few games like Splat so we were energised.  Since the first Tuesday show was the other cast, I was going to be an Aide in the One Flew Over segment of the tour, as the more people occupying the area in that scene, the more realistic it would be.  However, because my show is on the Wednesday, I still need to keep on top of my lines for The Sceptic so this morning Me, Connor and Adam focused on running through our lines together so we knew we had them fully learnt, since now we were in the venue some parts of the tour had been swapped around.  After lunch, me and the other people in the OFO section went through what we would be doing during Nurse Ratchet's section, like all turning to look at the audience at the same time during parts of her speech.   Tuesday 22nd of October This was the day of the first show so we immed...

Week Commencing 7th of October

Monday 7th of October Today in the morning we were still practicing for another Ghost Light audition as the tour guides hadn't been casted still.  Everyone who wanted to be a tour guide went to the black box room to develop the character they would like to play.  I sat and discussed my ideas for the theatre with both Faith and Connor, where we learnt how we all saw the character in a similar way.  After we spent time making notes, we got into the groups of 3 of the Sceptic, Theatre Reviewer and Mystic, where we practiced the audition piece, really getting into character, and even performing it in front of a few of our peers.  Once we were confident, we went to the dance studio to show it to Kelly, making sure to do it the best we'd done yet, as she was still unsure on who she wanted for the tour guides.
