Unit 12: Week Commencing 19th of May

Monday 19th of May

In todays lesson, we did a run through of cast 2, which obviously I was a police officer in.  This meant that I wasn't in it much, so most of the day I was learning lines in the corner.  Due to this, I feel quite confident in saying I believe I'm completely off script for Act 1, so hopefully we do my cast tomorrow.



Tuesday 20th of May

Today we did a run through of Lovely Bones where I was Mr Harvey, and I think it went incredibly smoothly, especially since I'm off script for the first act, I feel I'm in a great position for the show as I mostly know act two as well.  I also got to do my death scene for the first time which is quite fun and can't wait for the whole thing to be put on the main stage.




Wednesday 21st of May

Today we focussed on running scenes that people were struggling with.  One of these scenes was the mat tent scene, which has always been a scene I’d struggled with.  We changed this scene as for when Harvey, Jack and Susie all touch hands Mr Harvey and Jack stare at each other for what feels like forever, before the silence is broken by Jack.  This enhances the scene as it build the tension between Jack and Harvey, and is the root of Jacks obsession.  Near the end of the day, me and the Harvey’s and Susie’s choreographed what would happen behind the sheet, coming up with the idea we’d pick Susie up and having her kick her legs in the air.




Thursday 22nd of May

Starting today we got our new headshots for the programme, done professionally by Kane.  After this we did a run through of every cast, with mine being the first.  I feel this run through went well and I only had a few notes, with one of them being more forceful in the first scene when I don’t let Susie leave.  Since I’m only a cop in the other casts, I spent the rest of the day doing my coursework, jumping in when I was needed.

Week commencing 14th of October

  Monday 14th of October This morning we played a new game called G'day Shiela, which was a memory game which made us remember who we were close to.  We played this game to improve our skills at remembering multiple things at once, as we had to speak in an accent, and the names of the two people to our right.  The rest of the day we put our full attention on Ghostlight Tours, with me, Connor and Adam going off to rehearse in the Black Box room ourselves, where we focussed completely on the first scene as it helped us get into character and it was the hardest part to learn, due to the rest of our dialogue mostly being short speeches before each section.  For now I just need to focus on getting of script for the first few pages as the show is actually quite close. Globe Show Week and Evaluation

  Monday 21st of October Today was our first day at The Globe, one day before our first show.  To begin with, we warmed up by playing a few games like Splat so we were energised.  Since the first Tuesday show was the other cast, I was going to be an Aide in the One Flew Over segment of the tour, as the more people occupying the area in that scene, the more realistic it would be.  However, because my show is on the Wednesday, I still need to keep on top of my lines for The Sceptic so this morning Me, Connor and Adam focused on running through our lines together so we knew we had them fully learnt, since now we were in the venue some parts of the tour had been swapped around.  After lunch, me and the other people in the OFO section went through what we would be doing during Nurse Ratchet's section, like all turning to look at the audience at the same time during parts of her speech.   Tuesday 22nd of October This was the day of the first show so we immed...

Week Commencing 7th of October

Monday 7th of October Today in the morning we were still practicing for another Ghost Light audition as the tour guides hadn't been casted still.  Everyone who wanted to be a tour guide went to the black box room to develop the character they would like to play.  I sat and discussed my ideas for the theatre with both Faith and Connor, where we learnt how we all saw the character in a similar way.  After we spent time making notes, we got into the groups of 3 of the Sceptic, Theatre Reviewer and Mystic, where we practiced the audition piece, really getting into character, and even performing it in front of a few of our peers.  Once we were confident, we went to the dance studio to show it to Kelly, making sure to do it the best we'd done yet, as she was still unsure on who she wanted for the tour guides.
