Unit 12: Week Commencing 12th of May

Monday 12th of May

Today for rehearsals I performed the scene where Mr Harvey gets interviewed by the cop about the drawing that Lindsey stole.  I enjoy this scene as I have to go from incredibly frantic and scared to calm and collected when the officer enters the space, all while keeping up the accent and ignoring Susie and the other dead girls.  Once I was no longer Mr Harvey, I became the cop for the other cast, which means I know all the lines for both characters which is quite helpful.

Tuesday 13th of May

Because most people today were doing a Shakespeare workshop, I focused on working on my assignment this morning.  Then in the afternoon I helped move set pieces of the last show to the dance studio, which were large walls of wood, which we were thinking of using for Harvey and the Salmons house's.  As well as this, we brought in a large door frame that was plastered with paper, so we spent most of the afternoon removing it, while we brainstormed other ideas for the set.

Wednesday 14th of May

Today we nearly got to the end of the whole piece, with one of the main scenes I was in being the memorial scene.  For this we all had our backs to the audience while we paid our respects to Susie, before Jack comes to join us.  After this,  we got to the scene where Fenerman decides to dig up the whole of the cornfield, ultimately finding Susie's Coke bottle, with me being one of the cops.  Finally, we did the scene with Mr Harvey losing his mind and hearing bells.  I figured this scene would be difficult for me, much like the other scenes where Harveys completely psychotic, as the accent is one of my biggest weaknesses, so trying to keep it up while borderline shouting is incredibly difficult.

Thursday 15th of May

We finally finished The Lovely Bones today, with us finally getting to the scene where Mr Harvey gets his well deserved comeuppance.  This scene shows him getting struck by an icicle while trying to capture another unsuspecting girl, which we will show by Susie stamping on an icicle which are lined up in a row above him.  Before this scene however, we blocked the scene with him going back to the sinkhole trying to retrieve the safe, which we decided to put at the front of the stage so its presence is always there.
