Week Commencing 10th of February

Monday 10th of February I was absent for this morning however when I came in we were working on the first scene from DNA, which I obviously was not in, as Adam is only revealed to be alive by the third scene.  In the afternoon, I spent the time starting to learn my lines for Adam, as even though he doesn't have many lines he does have an incredibly large and repetitive monologue so I need to spend a lot of time trying to learn and refine it. Tuesday 11th of February I spent this morning working with George to direct Bouncers, working on the first Lads scene, working on things we can alternate in the script, such as them testing different increasingly awful pick-up lines.  In the afternoon, we had to come to the unfortunate decision of me becoming the role of Ralph instead of Connor, as we simply didn't have him enough of the time to make the most of our rehearsals.  This would be another challenge for me to learn another script alongside Adam, and Hayley's short film. Week Commencing 3rd of February

Monday 3rd of February Today we got into groups of six where we were given a song by The Beatles called "Yesterday" to help us work on our speech.  We first began by reading it out making sure to pronounce every word correctly, then moving onto speaking it normally while retaining our diction.  After this we devised a scene using the song as an idea to build off of, so we came up with the idea of a boy who's mother leaves due to the father abusing her, with the mother being who the son is singing about in the context of the song.  Our scene showed the boy running away from home, telling his friends he's going to commit suicide, the scene ending with his friends trying to find him before he does. Tuesday 4th of February Today we worked on our SRC fringe festival projects, which I am in two of, Bouncers and Hayley's short film.  Mainly today I focused on working with Hayley on talking about shots and costume for the film, before doing another readthrough of Boun...

Week Commencing 27th of January

Monday 27th of January Today we began by working on our devising skills, by doing an activity that started with us getting into small groups of five.  Once in the groups, we were given a sentence that had a dynamic word, which based on the context it was used in completely changes how you'd deliver the line.  Our groups word was "stand back, it's gonna blow!".  To begin with, we took turns saying the line to each other in different tones to think of different scenarios it could be used in.  We were then given 10 minutes to use the line in a short comedic scene, which led us coming up with the idea of a microwave blowing up in someone's face unintentionally.  Once we performed this, we then had to make a dramatic scene using the line, so we thought of a police officer trying to save a hostage who is revealed to be wearing a bomb vest.  This task helped us improve our creativity and creating layers of subtext from a single line. Tuesday 28th of January...
