Week Commencing 3rd of February
Monday 3rd of February
Today we got into groups of six where we were given a song by The Beatles called "Yesterday" to help us work on our speech. We first began by reading it out making sure to pronounce every word correctly, then moving onto speaking it normally while retaining our diction. After this we devised a scene using the song as an idea to build off of, so we came up with the idea of a boy who's mother leaves due to the father abusing her, with the mother being who the son is singing about in the context of the song. Our scene showed the boy running away from home, telling his friends he's going to commit suicide, the scene ending with his friends trying to find him before he does.
Tuesday 4th of February
Today we worked on our SRC fringe festival projects, which I am in two of, Bouncers and Hayley's short film. Mainly today I focused on working with Hayley on talking about shots and costume for the film, before doing another readthrough of Bouncers. Finally we received our roles in DNA and Normalised and luckily I got the role of Adam, which I am incredibly excited for.
Wednesday 5th of February
Today we split into our different casts for DNA, where we explained to each other our goals for the project, aswell as talking about how we thought each character was connected. We also talked about expectations about when we'd need to be off script for certain scenes. After this we then had a lesson with Abbie where we learnt about a practitioner called Rudolf Laban and how he impacted physical theatre with his techniques.
Thursday 6th of February
Today we just did a read though of DNA in our casts, brainstorming ideas for each scene and how we'd want to block it.
