Week Commencing 10th of February
Monday 10th of February
I was absent for this morning however when I came in we were working on the first scene from DNA, which I obviously was not in, as Adam is only revealed to be alive by the third scene. In the afternoon, I spent the time starting to learn my lines for Adam, as even though he doesn't have many lines he does have an incredibly large and repetitive monologue so I need to spend a lot of time trying to learn and refine it.
Tuesday 11th of February
I spent this morning working with George to direct Bouncers, working on the first Lads scene, working on things we can alternate in the script, such as them testing different increasingly awful pick-up lines. In the afternoon, we had to come to the unfortunate decision of me becoming the role of Ralph instead of Connor, as we simply didn't have him enough of the time to make the most of our rehearsals. This would be another challenge for me to learn another script alongside Adam, and Hayley's short film. During the rest of the day, I worked with Hayley coming up with ideas for which songs that might be used for scenes in her film.
Wednesday 12th of February
This morning we did quite a few warm ups as due to the practitioner Viola Spolin, warm ups are incredibly important to get everyone into the right mood for acting and gain creativity. One of these warm ups was a game where we were given a famous character in a relationship with another and had it stuck to our backs without us knowing who it was, we then went around the room asking yes or no questions to try and figure out who it could be, and find out who are counterpart is. After this we were put into groups and given a slip of paper with a starting line and ending line, with the theme of love. We devised a scene of neighbours accidently nearly poisoning there new neighbours with cookies when we were then given a twist of having to make it a musical so we had to sing every line. I feel this amplified our scene as it added more comedy to it as we could sneak in comedic references to other musicals such as Les Mis and Book of Mormon. In the afternoon we went back to working on DNA, getting our cast together and running the first scene, trying to get it completely blocked since most of our cast was off script. We then looked at dance with Abbie where we came up with an interpretive dance based of one of three photos which we will further develop and show next week.
Thursday 13th of February
We began the day by getting the short scene "The Empty
Chair" filmed which was quite exciting as I really enjoy the process of
filming. It was fun to stay in a
character like Henry, who is nothing like me since we agreed he was around 50,
as I had to try and remain in his headspace while we did different takes of
different angles for the scene.
