Week Commencing 20th of January

Monday 20th of January

Today we focussed on trusting our classmates by doing a series of warmups linked to having faith in each other.  The first task was to lock hands with a classmate and both lean backwords, providing each other with counterweight. This led us into getting into bigger and bigger groups and all leaning back, putting our full trust in each other, even raising a leg, going up to groups of 5.  We then split up into 4 groups and played a game of imaginary tug of war.  This helped improve our awareness of our classmates as we had to know when to move in correlation to our opposing team.  After this, we got into groups of 5, where we made a devised piece based on the characters from "Normalised" to help build context for characters and the story in general.  My groups scene was an evening in Colm, Jamesy and Bo's house, set at a dining table, where it showed Colm get abused by his father, also explaining what led to their mother abandoning them, leaving them all alone with their dad.

Today was audition day for "Normalised", which was exciting but also nerve-racking as there were a lot of people also auditioning for the same role as me however I was still quite confident.  For our auditions, we performed infront of the class, and for my audition I shared a scene with Sam and Maddie, where Jay (who I auditioned for) is being interviewed about the campaign,  During my audition, I felt I didn't do great as I forgot one of the lines during it, which thew me off and I struggled to get back into the headspace of Jay.  However, I also got to perform his monologue during the final rally, which I believe went a lot better as I feel I successfully delivered the emotion of Jay and how he changes from rebellious to more soft spoken when he thinks about Colm.

Today we further developed the scene were going to have filmed called "The Empty Chair", looking into the characters in the scene in more detail so we were more believable as well as the way we wanted it filmed.  After this we did a read through of a script called DNA, which we will be putting together in a separate group whilst we are doing Normalised.  Once we read through it, we then did some singing with Tom, singing the song "You Will Be Found", from one of my favourite musicals Dear Evan Hansen.
