Week Commencing 22nd of April
Monday 22nd of April
Today in the morning we did a few warm ups to get ready for practicing our performance of Shout, one of them being Wah do we were more awake. Once we did a run through of Shout, Kelly released the cast list for both One Flew Over and Radium Girls. Whilst I didn’t get the role I auditioned for (Billy) I am more than please with the roles I was given, Aide Williams for cast one and Aide Warren for cast two. These roles will be a challenge for me as I will have to juggle learning two sets of lines which will more than likely be similar to each other as the characters mainly share scenes with each other. Furthermore, I will be engaging in stage combat with these roles, stretching myself and my abilities even more.
Tuesday 23rd of April
Today we did the first scene of One Flew Over as the full cast one. This helped me work on my chemistry with Delroy as the two Aides work together so would obviously be friendly and know each other quite well. I quickly learnt my lines for both characters for the Aides interaction with the Chief at the beginning of the play, aswell as Williams first confrontation with McMurphy, where we choreographed what line for him to turn around and fend me off with a chair.
Wednesday 24th of April
Today was our away performance of our connections piece Shout, in a theatre we had never performed in before. Due to this, we had to run through the show to get used to the wing spaces, as well as getting the tech perfected. We watched another group perform their piece called Age Is Revolting, before we went on to perform our piece. In our performance, everything went perfectly, even being better than the performance we did in college.
Thursday 25th of April
Since yesterday we performed Shout we just re-ran the scenes we had already been through from One Flew Over. This helped us develop our characters more and know what we could be doing in the background while not being the focus. This involved me interacting with some of the other patients in the ward and wiping down some surfaces with a mop.
