Unit Two- Engaging the audience

Candidate Declaration - I confirm that the attached portfolio is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself.  Task One: See rest of blog. Task Two: Auditions: See week commencing 6th of November. Peter Pan Characters: In Peter Pan I was a Lost Boy in all three casts.  This was quite a difficult role to play as even though I had hardly any lines or none at all, I had to use my physical skills to portray them rather than having to rely on words. Since I was a lost boy, I made my reactions a lot more over exaggerated as they are only children, such as when we had to hide Wendy, I went backwards on all fours to cover her legs.  As well as this, when The Lost Boys first came on the stage, I interacted with all the other Lost Boys and played games with them, such as rock, paper, scissors, until we all heard the pirates chanting, which led me to jump into another Lost Boys arms.  I did this to show how since I was still a child, I wo...

Week commencing 9th of January

Tuesday 9th of January Today was our first week back after our Christmas break and our first lesson was just with the first years.  For the first part of our lesson we made a large timeline going from the big bang to today with each person putting an important event onto the timeline.  Once everyone had contributed, we looked at the timeline overall, making sure everything was in the correct place along the timeline.  We then took every event and labelled it with a piece of media based on it such as TV shows, movies, art pieces etc.  After this we got into pairs and read through a short script called the proposal, which was about a man looking for his neighbours daughters hand in marriage.  We learnt about the Magic If and emotional memory to help acting out the scene. Wednesday 10th of January Since everyone was in today, we all sat down in a circle and read the connections script, having people stand up and go in the middle to read in as different chara...

Peter Pan show week!

Monday and Tuesday the 11th and 12th of December Since it was our final day before the show we were all on our best behaviour and it was also our first time in The Arc in 20 years so we wanted to make a good impression.  For these days we focused on doing a full dress and tech run through of cast one so we were fully prepared for tomorrow.  I came in wearing my dark green shorts and top with my fuzzy brown leg warmers and furry gloves as my lost boy costume.  We successfully did a full run through of cast one with lighting and microphones as we needed to make sure that they worked for the show.   Wednesday 13th of December Today was our very first time performing Peter Pan in front of a paying audience!  However, for the very first show, we did a relaxed performance in front of an audience with special needs.  Because of this, some of the main cast were set out in the stalls and audience before the show began to get the audience more relaxed and...

Week Commencing 27th of November

Monday 27th of November This was our first day outside of college and we were in a building called Bobby Dazzlers Academy.  Since it was our first day there we were very energetic, so played ninja and splat to calm down before we practiced the scene of The Lost Boys shooting Wendy and then building her a house, where we choreographed and performed the second section of the house song.  After this we brainstormed different ideas on how to get Peter and The Darlings to fly when Kelly came up with the idea for 6 people to lift the characters into the air and walk them around the stage, which looked amazing. Tuesday 28th of November For the first half of today we focused on doing a full run through of the script whilst sat down with the person reading in for the main parts alternating between the 3 casts.  While doing this, we sung every song that came up, and tried to avoid using the script when we could.  Afterward, we practiced flying with the all the character...
