Week commencing 9th of January

 Tuesday 9th of January

Today was our first week back after our Christmas break and our first lesson was just with the first years.  For the first part of our lesson we made a large timeline going from the big bang to today with each person putting an important event onto the timeline.  Once everyone had contributed, we looked at the timeline overall, making sure everything was in the correct place along the timeline.  We then took every event and labelled it with a piece of media based on it such as TV shows, movies, art pieces etc.  After this we got into pairs and read through a short script called the proposal, which was about a man looking for his neighbours daughters hand in marriage.  We learnt about the Magic If and emotional memory to help acting out the scene.


Wednesday 10th of January

Since everyone was in today, we all sat down in a circle and read the connections script, having people stand up and go in the middle to read in as different characters.  This helped more people get comfortable and even choose which character stuck out to them the most who they may want to audition for.  We also played a game called snap, where everyone was in a circle and you had to maintain eye contact and pass them a snap, by locking eye contact with someone and snapping at them, and the aim was to not loose the snap or for the wrong person to have it.

Thursday 11th of January

For today to get into the main characters shoes we all came into college with headphones and a song of our choice.  We were told to close our eyes and play the music, so no one could see each other.  This helped everyone relax as they knew no one would judge them.  After this we each broke off into groups and did a short scene from the connections script, and my group was given the wave scene.  Whilst we were rehearsing it, we found it difficult to make the waves look natural, however, the rest of the scene went well.

Week commencing 14th of October

  Monday 14th of October This morning we played a new game called G'day Shiela, which was a memory game which made us remember who we were close to.  We played this game to improve our skills at remembering multiple things at once, as we had to speak in an accent, and the names of the two people to our right.  The rest of the day we put our full attention on Ghostlight Tours, with me, Connor and Adam going off to rehearse in the Black Box room ourselves, where we focussed completely on the first scene as it helped us get into character and it was the hardest part to learn, due to the rest of our dialogue mostly being short speeches before each section.  For now I just need to focus on getting of script for the first few pages as the show is actually quite close. Globe Show Week and Evaluation

  Monday 21st of October Today was our first day at The Globe, one day before our first show.  To begin with, we warmed up by playing a few games like Splat so we were energised.  Since the first Tuesday show was the other cast, I was going to be an Aide in the One Flew Over segment of the tour, as the more people occupying the area in that scene, the more realistic it would be.  However, because my show is on the Wednesday, I still need to keep on top of my lines for The Sceptic so this morning Me, Connor and Adam focused on running through our lines together so we knew we had them fully learnt, since now we were in the venue some parts of the tour had been swapped around.  After lunch, me and the other people in the OFO section went through what we would be doing during Nurse Ratchet's section, like all turning to look at the audience at the same time during parts of her speech.   Tuesday 22nd of October This was the day of the first show so we immed...

Week Commencing 7th of October

Monday 7th of October Today in the morning we were still practicing for another Ghost Light audition as the tour guides hadn't been casted still.  Everyone who wanted to be a tour guide went to the black box room to develop the character they would like to play.  I sat and discussed my ideas for the theatre with both Faith and Connor, where we learnt how we all saw the character in a similar way.  After we spent time making notes, we got into the groups of 3 of the Sceptic, Theatre Reviewer and Mystic, where we practiced the audition piece, really getting into character, and even performing it in front of a few of our peers.  Once we were confident, we went to the dance studio to show it to Kelly, making sure to do it the best we'd done yet, as she was still unsure on who she wanted for the tour guides.
