My Fifth Week at SRC

Monday 9th of October

Today we worked on our characterisation as we played a game called Lonely Hearts Column where we  were given a character who wanted to find love.  We were given a brief description of our character and we had to flesh them out for them to become more believable as we were only given a few facts about them.  I was given a 39 year old male who loved photography, riding bikes and going out to socialise, who wanted to find a female for friendship or maybe more.  Kelly asked us questions about our character such as what is our biggest fear was and who we are closest to.  After this we all performed our Globe pieces for the class so we all knew what each person was doing.  This helped us build our confidence of performing in front of others as we have quite a large class so we knew we won't get overwhelmed in front of an actual audience.

Tuesday 10th of October

This morning we did a warm up with the level 2 actors and with Tom as we would be singing most of the day.  We were shown the songs The Jack The Ripper victims were going to sing and perform to so we all got into groups and started trying to make beats for the song.  Before this we were shown how to make different sounds with out bodies such as hitting our chests our knees and told about the different speeds we could make the sounds at.  Afterward, we did some more vocal warm ups before we practiced singing more of the Peter Pan songs in preparation for the show and to help Tom see who sings the best for each role.

Wednesday 11th of October

Today we worked more on diction as we learnt and read out more tongue twisters such as "Imagine an imaginary menagerie manager, imagining managing an imaginary menagerie."  This was the most difficult of all as you had to make sure you didn't loose the "an"s is the rest of the sentence.  After doing the tongue twisters we just worked further on our piece for The Globe and tried to improve it where we could for performing it in front of Josh the next day.

Thursday 12th of October

Today we practiced as we got the opportunity to perform our piece in front of Josh to see if he liked our idea.  We mainly practiced in the greenscreen room as it had the most space for us.
