My Fifth Week at SRC

Monday 9th of October Today we worked on our characterisation as we played a game called Lonely Hearts Column where we  were given a character who wanted to find love.  We were given a brief description of our character and we had to flesh them out for them to become more believable as we were only given a few facts about them.  I was given a 39 year old male who loved photography, riding bikes and going out to socialise, who wanted to find a female for friendship or maybe more.  Kelly asked us questions about our character such as what is our biggest fear was and who we are closest to.  After this we all performed our Globe pieces for the class so we all knew what each person was doing.  This helped us build our confidence of performing in front of others as we have quite a large class so we knew we won't get overwhelmed in front of an actual audience. Tuesday 10th of October This morning we did a warm up with the level 2 actors and with Tom as we would be...

My Fourth Week at SRC

Monday 2nd of October Today we did a trust exercise where we had to lean on our partner and walk with them whilst trying not to fall over.  We did this to build trust between each other as we had to work together to stay upright.  After this we played hug tag as we had to work together to avoid getting tug.  This helped us feel comfortable around everyone as you just hugged anyone to stay in the game.  Once we finished, we started working on our diction by learning tongue twisters by getting into groups and reading out ours for everyone else to try which was "I need a box of biscuits, a box of mixed biscuits, and a biscuit mixer." We did this so when we are doing shows our words are clear for the audience to understand. Tuesday 3rd of October Today in college we were taught how to do fake combat on stage for fight scenes and how to safely perform it without hurting one another.  First we got into partners and learnt how to throw punches, uppercuts, hair p...

My Third Week At SRC

Monday 25th of September On the first day of the week, we did a game with a partner where we had to describe something in gibberish. This was done to help us improve our skills of physicality as we couldn't rely on our speech to properly describe what we were doing.  After this we got into teams and had to perform a short improvisation of "the worlds worst holiday", however the catch was we had to plan it all in gibberish which made it difficult for everyone on the same team to get on the same page.  Whilst performing the piece, members of the audience could shout out "English",  meaning we had to seamlessly swap between the two languages.  Kelly made us do this as it made us better at showing the audience what was going instead of telling them.  After this, we all got into partners and practiced doing a duologue in front of an audience which we would go on to perform on Wednesday. Tuesday 26th of September Today we were working with Tom on improving our ...
