DNA Performance Evaluation

Image
For DNA, I played the role of Adam, the boy the group of friends "kill" before it is revealed he survived and is severely brain damaged.  On the surface, he seems to be just a minor role, appearing in the third scene and delivering a monologue, before being escorted off stage by Brian (Or Bri) to be killed, however there was so many layers to this character that I had to unpack if I wanted to portray him in a convincing manner.  An objective of mine was to show the audience truly how much of a victim of the group he is, aswell as the true fear he has of them, which I portrayed by staying very closed off with my body language, hugging myself in a ball and being incredibly jumpy.  For his monologue, I knew I had to deliver it with all the emotion I could, which made me think I should come on stage already quite teary, until I got to my monologue where I began to full on sob.  This was a challenge as while ugly crying I had to make sure my diction was still perfectly cl...

Unit 12: Week Commencing 7th of April

Monday 7th of April Today was my first toured performance of DNA, which began with me going to college to get my makeup for Adam done by Neve, as it would be impossible for her to do it for me at the school.  Once I was in costume and got my makeup done, we got to the school where luckily we were able to take all the set, however, there was an issue, as the stage had no lighting and only one door backstage left, so we all had to enter and exit the same way.  Even with this change, the show still went smoothly, although during my monologue I did trip up, forgetting my next line for a few seconds, before luckily remembering it and thankfully staying character and not giving it away with my face that I had forgotten.   Tuesday 8th of April Today we filmed more of Hayley's film for Fringe, with the whole cast going out to film scenes.  These scenes were quite difficult to film as we were using Hayley's dog, so keeping the continuity between shots was hard as we had ...

Unit 12: Week commencing 1st of April

Monday 1st of April Today we had the chance of reading through the whole of The Lovely Bones and since I was ill last week I missed the original read through of the script so made sure to analyse it whilst I read it.  Once I had finished I found myself fixated on the character of Mr Harvey, the man who kills Susie Salmon.  I spoke to Kelly about it, questioning what kind of monologue I should do, since really there are two sides to his character, and Kelly suggested I do a monologue which shows his deranged evil side, instead of his unassuming side, as she's seen me do that before.  I then helped Kelly alongside a few other students with introducing some people into the course who are thinking of joining next year, by giving them a tour around the college. Tuesday 2nd of April Since auditions were tomorrow, I spent this morning searching for one I thought would fit the character of Mr Harvey, until I found the perfect one from a film called "The Girl With The Dragon Tatto...
