Week Commencing 30th of September
Monday 30th of September
Today to warm up we began with a game of Mafia Boss, however we had to make our deaths overly dramatic to help prepare us for The Globe. Afterward, we played a new game called The Human Knot, which helped us work on our communication skills as we got in small groups and put our hands in the middle of our small circle and grabbed 2 random peoples hands, before then having to untangle ourselves and reform a circle. Once we had warmed up, we were spoken to by Kelly who said she was interested in the idea of adding mystery elements into The Globe, which she wanted to see us practice by giving us an extract from Clue 2, where we then went to practice in our groups. The extract showed the group stumbling upon a dead body, which falls and pins down Mr Green (who I was playing), leading them to all pin the blame on each other. Each group performed their take on the scene, as there was a lot of parts in the scene that could be left to interpretation. During our performance, I played Mr Green as quite snobby and tired of being surrounded by people he sees as idiots.
Wednesday 2nd of October
Today Kelly had written her first draft of The Globe, which we read through in a circle. One thing that stood out to me was instead of just 2 tour guides this time there were 3, The Mystic, The Theatre Reviewer and The Sceptic. The one that interested me the most was The Reviewer, due to his over-excited nature and being the most extravagant of the 3. Once we read through it, Abi told the people who were interested in The Guides to go into a separate room and build up their character more, before getting into groups of the 3 guides, where I worked with George, who was going for The Mystic, and Delroy, who was going for The Sceptic. We went through the first scene where we were all introduced so we could perform it infront of Kelly and the class as a sort of second audition. While I was still on script, I was still confident during the performance as I bounced off Delroy and George well, really over exaggerating my movements as that's how I thought he would be compared to Delroys stoicness and Georges mysteriousness.
Thursday 3rd of October
Today was different as instead of being in college, we took a class trip to York Dungeons, as we thought it would help us get ideas for our show, as it is very similar to what we are going to be doing. Going through the Dungeons, I took mental notes on how the actors interacted us for ideas on how I would play a tour guide.
