Week Before Performance At The Globe
Monday 16th of October
Today we played a game where we had to stand up and move at the same time. This was to work on our communication skills without actually speaking. We wanted to improve this skill as for our performance at The Globe we had to move toward the audience without saying anything to scare them. It took us a few tries to get it right but after some attempts we finally perfected it, however we then how to repeat the task but slowing down and speeding up at random times without making any noise. Then we were told to get into partners were we had to keep saying the same the to them but in a different tone of voice to see how many different ways we could say the same thing. After this we brought our characters from our lonely heart column characters to life by having us pretend we were at a bar for a meetup. To flesh out our character more we showed everyone a photo of ourselves and then got into groups to do a multiple choice quiz. After our team sadly lost I paired with someone where we asked each other questions about characters so we knew who we would go on a date with the next time we do lonely hearts columns.

Today Tom was teaching us so we did some vocal warm ups before singing all of the songs from Peter Pan. This helped us choose which songs we think we can sing the best so we know which character we may want to go for. After singing the songs we then did another walk through of the execution scene where I got given the role of Robert Catesby, Guy Fawkes best friend. As this role I had to scare the audience by popping up behind them and getting the members of The Gunpowder Plot to surround the audience. After I announce myself I walk through the audience and stand in front of everyone and demand Guy Fawkes be freed but my attention gets redirected to Burke when he insists we let them go. I then ask him to come closer and once we are face to face I stab him with a concealed knife. After we showed Tom the execution we were told about what characters we could audition for and what you had to do in your audition. I decided to put my name up for John as I am confident I could play him well and he doesn't have to sing as many songs as some of the other main characters.
Wednesday the 18th and Thursday 19th of October
These days we once again practiced The Globe and did a full run through of every scene. I successfully learnt all my lines for Robert Catesby and got a retractable knife that disappears when I stab Burke so it gives the effect of me actually stabbing him. We also added other people into Guy Fawkes who didn't have roles on other nights as there needed to be 13 members in the gunpowder plot and taught them our scene.
