Unit 12: Taking The Lead

In this year when we were told to take the lead in directing others for our fringe project, I immediately knew I wanted to direct a short piece involving my classmates.  I teamed up with George who shared the same vision as me, also wanting to do a piece, coming to agree on performing the show "Bouncers", written by John Godber.  We chose this as it was something we had always wanted to put on, as well as we knew who we'd want to do it with, those people being Noah, Keiran and Connor.  However, because the show has 4 characters, me and George agreed to putting him in it as the fourth, and I would focus on directing them.  Unfortunately, due to the length of the show, we came to the realisation we had to cut it down majorly, to fit into the festival, ultimately choosing a scene from each section where the characters change; The opening with the Bouncers, The Lads to The Girls, to then finally ending with The Lads.  This was a great choice as the scenes we chose r...

Unit 12: The Lovely Bones Show Evaluation

This show marks the end of my journey of my second year at Stockton Riverside College, and I believe that it really has shown how much I have grown as an actor over my two years at this college, with Mr Harvey being my most challenging role I've taken on.  Every role I have performed at this college has given me a unique opportunity, stretching me in all sorts of different ways, and ending on such a interesting character truly encapsulates my journey.  During the rehearsal process, I spent it trying to get into the headspace of Mr Harvey, as obviously he is a character I share no similarities with, so the research I did for this character really helped me bring him to life.   For this performance, I had a few goals I wanted to achieve by the end of it, the main one being to successfully portray the pure remorseless and sadistic nature of Mr Harvey, really creeping out the audience with how I acted him out.  For this I really put thought into every action I did o...
