One Flew Over Audition and Preparation

Candidate Declaration - I confirm that the attached portfolio is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself.  In preparation for my audition to get into One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, I bought the book made by National Theatre, which inside had 75 different types of monologues for any kind of audition.  I read through the entire book, taking notes of all the monologues that interest me that I believed could show my skills in acting, as well as looking at the tips and suggestions in the book that would improve and refine the monologue I chose.  After I read each monologue, I chose on a scene from 2:18 Underground, which is spoken by Neil, who talks about his experience running a business with his wife, noting how it changed him making him more "ruthless", eventually getting so wrapped up in his work he could not play football with his son.  This inadvertently killed his wife and son as he told them to go to the park, but take...

Candidate Declaration - I confirm that the attached portfolio is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself.  Task One See Blogs from Week Commencing 9th of January to Shout! Show Week. Task Two A way I helped with the design of the production is with costume and props.  Firstly, I made myself a sock puppet to help the therapist during fading in, even helping some of my other classmates decorate theirs.  Aswell as the sock puppets, I also bought in multiple fidget toys that helped bring the Freaks and Geeks room to life, as when characters in The Calming Room were not speaking, they could be playing with fidget toys.  A few of the toys I bought in were a fidget spinner, two poppers, a slinky and a pin art board, which allowed people to  make interesting things using the pins.  For my costume I thought hard about what someone who would identify as a Freak and Geek would wear, finally settling on a back to the future s...

Shout Show Week

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the 18th, 19th and 20th of March Over these three days we all were just preparing ourselves for the show day.  To be prepared, we did multiple run throughs of the show, taking note of what scenes could be improved and what changes we could make to them to expand the world of Shout.  As well as this, we also looked at what costumes we would be wearing to enhance the performance.  As a Freak and Geek, I made sure to wear a pop culture shirt as it would make me seem more nerdy.  I also brought in multiple fidget toys to fill up the freaks and Geeks room that the characters who weren't saying anything could be playing with them to make sure everyone on stage had a purpose.   Show Day! Today was our first time performing Shout in front of an actual audience, which would be our most important performance as a women from The Nation Theatre was coming to watch it to assess how good our performance was.  The performance will...
